Germantown Academy - Fort Washington, PA - 2025
This mural, created with design and painting input from 1200 students aged PreK-12, represents a shared scene of communal wellness - one immersed in nature, balancing study and silence, movement and rest, family and friendship.
I worked with the Germantown Academy community to design and paint this collaborative mural centered on the theme of Wellness of Mind, Body, & Heart. At the beginning of the ‘24-’25 school year, I spoke with all students PreK-12, gathering drawings and curating individual dreams of well-being. Following this initial visit, Honors Art students studied these thousands of drawings to generate key imagery and themes.
Through these sessions, a shared scene of communal wellness began to emerge - one immersed in nature, balancing study and silence, movement and rest, family and friendship. We wanted to represent perseverance on the pathway of possibilities, celebrating the journey through GA and beyond.
With support from Art Across the Academy and the One School Committee, I created a design harmonizing these collective ideas into a singular vision. Once this design was agreed upon, hundreds of students, staff, parents, and alumni helped fill in the underpainting during a community paint day. The final overpainting and installation was performed alongside a dedicated team of four Senior Project students.
